In reposting this aircheck, I inadvertantly gave credit to the wrong guy. My apologies. I try my best to get it right the first time, and when I’m wrong I take credit.
WPLJ was calling themselves “Power 95″. It was CHR at this time, in its final year before Scott Shannon would return to New York and relaunch the station as “Mojo Radio” before evolving to the Hot AC format it still has today.
PLJ went after market leading Z-100 and was swamped with competition, between WHTZ and Hot 97 just couldn’t compete - but Power 95 was a very hot station.
