Terry “Motormouth” Young on Hot Hits! 98 WCAU-FM | November 26, 1982
Courtesy of Steve McVie, we have a ‘new’ Hot Hits WCAU-FM aircheck. It’s back to 1982 and a glimpse of the man who these days does his thing on XM Satellite Radio’s “60s on 6″ Channel.
We wish this was a better sounding recording… this tape sounds like it was recorded with a mic in front of a speaker. Still, while it starts out VERY fuzzy, it quickly cleans up enough for you to return to 1982 and remember what WCAU-FM sounded like. Philly Radio at its best!

I love this aircheck and any airchecks of WCAU-FM from 1981 to 1987.
thanks for the memories
Wow!!! I am eternaly 15 when I hear that! What a great time of my life! Terry Young & Hot Hits! Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Even though Terry sounds great on XM 60’s on 6, this was some of his best stuff. He & us were loving life back in the Big 80’s. I am glad I got to enjoy hearing him live on 98 as a resident of Philly.
Terry Young was the greatest in the 80’s ! Hearing his voice now takes me back to my favorite days.
Steve as always keeps the Hot Hits alive by sharing these timeless airchecks.
This is cool as heck! I think this is the Terry Young who was on AM WLEE in Richmond, VA in the mid-70s. Yeah, the 80s were okay, Terry made the 70s KICK!
I WAS LIVING AT WHAT WAS THE WOODS SCHOOLS IN LANGHORNE PA NOW WOODS SERVICES IM NOW 42 YEARS OLD IM BACK IN NORTHEN NJ PLAINFIELD NJ IT WAS A BLAST LISTENING TO TERRY MOTORMOUTH YOUNG HE MADE MY DAY EVERY DAY THANKS FOR THE MEMORYS
Terry was the greatest for teens in the early to mid 80’s! I seem to remember he got into trouble for playing the same song over and over one Friday night! I think it was a rap song called “The Eighth Wonder”. Does anyone remember that?
just reading these reviews brings back many memories - i was given a 90 minute tape of Terry
Young and hot hits back in Nov 1983.
I still have the tape to this day and it still
sounds awesome!!
No radio DJ in the uk has ever come close to Terry - brilliant!!!
Remember Terry Young well - listened to 98 all the time - they even played it on our schoolbus. Called into the station on one of their thousands of call in contests and won a cheesy set of “pop-folios” which were folders with 80’s bands on them to put your school papers in. Great flashback - the 80’s ROCK!!!!
