Our second Simon Trane aircheck – we have lots of fans waiting for this. Less than a half hour in length but we think you’ll enjoy going back to the 60s, as WQXI played LOTS of Motown!
This conversatio is quite inaccurate. Some are conusing Simon Trane with Night Train Lane, an African American who worked the all-night show. WQXI’s Simon Trane is alive and healthy, working a game in a Las Vegas Casino. Mike Dineen, another WQXI alumni visited him about a year ago. He was never a country DJ. I was the Program Director at WQXI in 1969.
Gary – Thanks for clearing that up. I am sorry to hear it was Night Traine Lane with the health issues but equally glad that Simon “Choo Choo Boogaloo Shing-a-ling schuffle” Trane is well – He used to say that shingaling thing every once in a while. I guess Dino is still in Augusta. Talked to Big R two weeks ago. He is still the same. Miss the late 60 Quixie days. What a station !!
If you're a regular visitor, you'll find Airchexx easier to use. Check out our new features, search for your favorite dj or station, or just use the pulldown menu at the top to just browse through the hundreds of classic radio recordings on this site!
Just remember, you won't find music on these recordings, just the jingles, old commericals and the announcers (deejays and newspersons) who graced the airwaves during the time of these recordings.
Thanks to you and Karl. Just found this. It really brings back memories.

Gary – Forgot – I have been in contact with Bob Bolton too via the e mail. He’s doing good.
