This one will take you way back, way before Jammin’ Oldies, way before Classic Rock, AOR and Active Rock and back when RKO General still owned “Fire”!

This runs just over 10 minutes and showcases a really good sounding soft AC station, although some have called this an Oldies-based station. You can click HERE for some interesting historical information about WFYR. And, interestingly enough, here’s a link to the station known as WFYR today.

It was great to hear some of the old ‘fyr staff: Ron Davis, Red Mottlow (RIP), Brooke Belson, Chuck Benson. CK had a lot of talent, his bits were a bit sophomoric for Chicago. Brought back some great memories.
Hearing “Baker Street” on this aircheck brought a chill…I heard it for the first time on this very station, albeit four years later. It was one of those timeless “What is THAT???” moments.
