Dan Ingram mid-1950’s Demo (29:29) Scoped
This is probably one of the oldest and most rare airchecks anywhere. As the story goes, this is the demo that got Dan Ingram the job at WABC. If not, it surely goes way back. You’ll hear WICC, WNHC and KBOX.

What a gem! This aircheck really helps to put NY’s favorite DJ’s career in perspective. Thanks for including. - Steve
This is fantastic! I, like many others, have grown up listening to Musicradio 77 and miss it and all the great DJ’s. My favorite lineup was Harry Harrison (morning), Ron Lundy (10-2), Dan Ingram (2-6), Cousin Brucie (6-10), and George Michael. Please continue this valuable resource. Any updates on Dan Ingram’s whereabouts?
There is NO WAY this is Dan Ingram, this is some kind of weird fake. It can’t be a young Dan; it can’t be an unpolished or up and coming Dan; it simply is not Dan Ingram (at least not the one that wound up as a NY legend on WABC). Maybe this is someone who worked under the name “Dan Ingram” but this aircheck is certaily not what it claims to be…beware!
Dan would surely disagree. This is actually a quite famous aircheck that others have talked about. That we have a copy is great, someone put it on a cassete and sent it in. I believe that Dan Ingram talked about this demo on one of the rewound shows, or perhaps an interview… but it’s the real enchilada!
The only reason for Dan Ingram Doubt here is that the whole aircheck composite runs very, VERY fast. All the scoped records come out two(2) full keys higher than recorded. So does Dan. But the developing mannerisms are indeed present!
I can’t BELIEVE that he included a mis-cue in an audition tape for a major market job! Maybe he was trying to prove that he could think fast on his feet.
