Robin King on WKSS ‘Kiss 95.7′ Hartford | August 1990

Back to 1990 and Robin King who is doing ‘Love Lines’ on Hartford’s ‘other’ CHR, Kiss 95.7. This opens with a very long string of callers – long even by 1990 standards. Then it moves into the hits as the night show gets fully underway.

Another from Robyn Watts’ collection.

    Howdy!
I wonder if you could dig up an aircheck with news on the August 17, 1969 hurricane Camille. It would be a nice feature.
    Thanks

Hey, I can’t believe I’ve haven’t made one comment to this exhibit!!! Robin King was MY favorite DJ when she was working at WNOK in Columbia (and a huge influence on me getting into broadcasting). Her father worked mornings at a small FM station in St. Matthews, SC., which was where Robin got her start as a teenager. While attending USC/Columbia, she got a job doing nights at WNOK, where she stayed until 1989. Robin left for a brief stint in Pittsburgh, then Hartford at Kiss 95.7. At last check, she was now working for the FOX affiliate in Charlotte, NC.

Wow, does this bring back memories…This aircheck came down about 2 years after I departed KISS. It was my first station, interning in the Summer of ‘88…just out of High School. I got my studio training from one of the most awesome jocks ever at Kiss, John McMann. Robin rolled in to do nights and she was simply “amped” everynight. It was a fun time.
