Jeremy Savage on WKSS Kiss 95.7 Hartford | Early 1990’s

And now, ladies and gentlemen… The Robyn Watts Collection!
Just in to the airchexx.com production room is this collection of literally hundreds of airchecks from all over America! Thanks! We’ll be dipping into this collection often (unless Gina, our co-producer goes postal with all the tapes and CD’s laying around our room).

Now, the first of many.

Jeremy Savage started at Kiss-FM way back in the late 80s. I personally first heard Savage when he was on Worcester (Massachusetts) rocker WAAF – calling himself “The Master Blaster – remember, we don’t pronounce our aaaahs up in Mass…. lol.

Savage made the transition from AOR jock to CHR very well. Here he is with some, er, adult material on the Kiss 95.7 morning show. It’s presented here in low-fidelity Stereo, so all can enjoy!

Hi Steve, thanks for allowing me to share this collection of material with everyone.

I should note that this was airchecked around after Christmas, 1991. The guy that you hear doing the “James Brown weather forecast” and other comedy material is Ed Kelly, who did a lot of work with the American Comedy Network during this time.

I was Jeremy’s producer and background off mic laugh track from March 1985 to July 1986. I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed hearing this clip.

It was great to hear these recordings! I have very few of them left Ocassionally, I pull one out and play them for my kids..Ed Kelly and I had a ball doing this show and we still talk occasionally about it. I am director of Broadcast Ops at Sirius Radio where I run the automation system and develop systems and software for all sorts of project like the NFL broadcasts and now Howard Stern. Thanks, so much for posting this!

    Regards,

    Jeremy Savage

Hi, I am looking to contact Jeremy Savage. He was good friends with my brother Phil Pura in college… Please contact me at epura@purart.com. Thanks.

  6. Steve West says:

EJ, Glad you posted.. Strange that I should read your comments – dude I was listening to you when I was a teen. Yes, I remember you on WAAF also.

I guess I should one day tell of my experience going into the WAAF studios on Mechanic St. in Worcester to meet Harvey Wharfield with a friend of mine. It was a … unique experience to say the least. I’d just started in radio and thought (God, was I naiive) that I had what it took to actually get on the air at WAAF. I’m sure my demo tape ended up in the circular file.

The ONE aspect of the studios there – walls painted black, psychadelic posters on the wall, all illuminated in black lighting, with the board in the dead center of the room… the WAAF studios looked like a head shop without the merchandice – Gawd, you guys really lived the part! It was a thrill, and one of the very best radio station trips I ever made.

As I remember, there was a female jock on during the midday – Don’t believe it was Lana Jones, she was doing morning news as I recall… Blonde chick. Any idea as to whom it might have been?

Not to leave anyone out, I meant to welcome the ‘owner’ of this aircheck, Jeremy Savage, who left comments a while back. It’s great to have you onboard and yes, I remember you on both Kiss-FM and WAAF… didn’t you used to work at WCOZ for a short time also?

Hope you’ll share more with us!

    Steve

  8. Rob Grayson says:

  10. Misha Savage says:

wow, an article on jeremy savage, aka, my dad…. looks like he left a post himself. I met Ed kelly last weekend when he came to visit, its kind of crazy how my dad became a radio broadcaster. He originally planned to be a guitar player, and thats what I aspire to be. I actually have some of his old music recordings.. if you want to hear them, e-mail me at superdjmisha@yahoo.com

  11. Steve West says:

Hello Misha! Its amazing the people who connect through this site!

There’s a lot of us who aspired to be musicians but who ended up doing the next best thing, IMHO. Either way I wish you much success in your endeavors. Oh, and we’d really love to hear your dad’s recordings. That would be a hoot!

If you like, email me – steve@airchexx.com

I was coming out of my DJ job at 3:15 am on thanksgiving morning when this kooky guy asked me if I was making a turkey today! Well a half an hour later after listening to this guy talk about music DJing and everything under the sun.He told me he was Jeremy savage and I could look him up on the internet!Well it is nice to know that this extremely intellegent and Charismatic semi-homeless character wandering the streets was not full of **** about who he was ! If anyone besides John Law is trying to get in touch with him please send me an Email and I’ll tell you where he told me he is at! He is a super cool guy who needs some help from a caring family member or old friend! He asked for nothing and went merrily on his way! Thanks, johnny

  14. Robyn Watts says:

Out of the two Jeremy & Ed airchecks that I’ve had sent in, this is my favorite.

Oh, and if you happen to read this Mr Savage, I want to say thanks for a pretty funny morning show.

    > Jeremy Savage started at Kiss-FM way back in the late 80s.

I believe Jeremy was the original morning show host when the station became Kiss in 1984.
