Bob “Vernon with a V” on 66 WNBC New York | 1976

At last report, Bob Vernon was doing television news in Raleigh, NC. Not sure if he’s still there, but he was fantastic in the mid-70s on WNBC New York. Notables on this aircheck: My favorite top of hour legal ID: “Fifty-Thousand Watts Clear Channel. This is the Flagship station of the National Broadcasting Company. Sixty Six, W N B C New York!” Talk about being proud as a peacock!

We posted this back in 2002 in our first months on the web. As we restore the aircheck vault in it’s new home, return with us to 1976 for a bit of WNBC

I still have a “Vernon Gives Good Radio” WNBC football jersey. I don’t wear it often.
