Composite : New York City Radio Dial | 1974

Now, thanks to new contributor Norman Riczu, aka “Stormin’ Norman, the current morning guy at WEBE 108, here’s a really great look at what the radio dial looked like back in ‘74.

This features, among others, Walt Baby Love on 99X, Imus in the Morning on WNBC, Johnny Donovan for Ron Lundy on WABC and more!

It was great getting to hear some of the jingles used on NYC area radio stations late in the summer of 1974. It was also great to hear an early WBLI jingle that sounded a lot like a WCBS-FM jingle of the time!

I have a memory of Gary MacKenzie on the 99X “Information” newscasts, strangely enough. And the teletype sound behind him.

I noticed Big Ron O’Brien was on this aircheck. I bet he was in between stints at WCFL. He returned to WCFL in July 1975. I heard his first night back and he was JAMMING !!!!!!! Good to hear Walt Baby Love, as well, one of my favorite jocks and people.
