Here’s ‘Couisn’ Bruce Morrow describing what happened at WMGM (before and later WHN) – WINS pulled one of the best tricks on crosstown 1050 WMGM. Politically, there was a crisis going on in France, and the former French General from WWII, Charles DeGaulle, was widely seen as going to become the next French President to unite the country. WMGM ‘thought’ they had a news scoop, they were going to be the first US radio station to interview the grand old French General – but things didn’t go quite as planned.
