Howard Hoffman on 77 WABC New York | 1980
Howard Hoffman, like many of us, has his own website. Okay… ok trying to find something whitty to say here - aw shucks I’ll just quit while I’m ahead.
Hoffman is likely one of the funniest DJ’s ever to crack a mic. And that was in his former life (according to his bio). So, here we’ve captured him occupying the air chair at WABC, a station that literally wasn’t the same before he got there or after he left.
This aircheck was posted on the ‘old’ version of airchexx.net about 3 years ago, and as we get close to Memorial Day and the traditional WABC Rewound - I’m bringing some of these old toon voices back to life (sorry Howard, couldn’t resist!)
No aircheck of Howard Hoffman can be appreciated until the listener goes back and first listens to him in Providence, on WPRO-FM. Once you listen to that one, return and listen to this one. WABC was in it’s last days as a Top 40 station, but they DID give it the good ole college try before throwing in the towell. Howard Hoffman’s was the very last nighttime music show before sports and talk took over.

I rememebr listening to Howard from New Glasgow NS Canada, one of my favorite memories, was when he was talking over the intro to Take The Long Way Home, and he was talking about a goldfish named Ponky (the topic was pet names )
