Jukebox Saturday Night on WNEW - Eleven Three-Oh New York | 1984 (1:28:18)
Believe it or not gang, I’ve had a number of requests to return WNEW 1130 to our re-launched site. Here’s the first of them.
This is a full, one hour, Thirty-plus minute recording of WNEW’s “Jukebox Saturday Night” show. Amazingly, not that you can tell what year it was recorded because of the age of music they played, but it was 1984 - a time in which a total music show with little talk was virtually unheard of on AM radio.
One thing is certain, this aircheck is probably one of the most unique that we have online. Better make a full pot of coffee before streaming this one - you’ll be here for a while.

Very nice! We miss WNEW, a truly unique station, and this check briefly brings back the old days.
Do you knpw where to find old shows on tape, etc.? I heard Eddie Albert MC a show in the 50’s.
Great air check….only thing missing is perhaps Al
“Jazzbeaux” Collins telling a few stories between tunes or Jim Lowe or Wllie B. or Bob Jones or Ted Brown. Then reaching waaaay back…Art Ford…Jerry
Marshall..Stan Shaw. These are the folks who really knew how to talk one on one to a listener.Doesn’t happen these days.
On second thought…maybe we should leave Al Collins out of the aircheck. You may remember he had a problem
with the Chordettes “Mr.Sandman” long time ago.
Yes, he shouldn’t have played it over and over all night but he recovered from that mishap and had a successful career. How could he not…Do you recall what he sounded like on the radio????…sittin’ right there talkin’ to you and you and especially for YOU as
William b. used to say.
