Rich Ghazarian on 103.5 WTFM Lake Success | March 9, 1980
Another one courtesy of Matt at Big Apple Airchecks is this rather short look at what was a modified easy listening station. This wasn’t a string music station, it did have jocks at this point… and IIRC was shortly before going AOR as WAPP. This could easily have developed into a major Soft AC station, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Richard Ghazarian was the real name for JP Hunter, former morning man at WGLI where I interned and did weekends for 3 years. He is now out of radio, and working for an events company. This aircheck got posted because Richard contacted me after finding my site, and saw his name on it, and asked me for this aircheck of WTFM. So I not only sent it to him, but here to airchexx.net!
I REMEMBER WHEN MY UNCLE LET ME SPEAK ON RADIO IN SAVANNAH GEORGIA, WSAV. IT WAS ALOT OF FUN AND HE WAS A GREAT UNCLE TO ME.
This is coming up as a WHN aircheck when I play it?
Yep it was, and for some reason this is the first anyone said about it. It’s fixed now.
What air name is he actually using here?
Isn’t he calling himself “Jay Ghazarian”?
