Vidchexx: Your Ex Wants You Back
Talk about pulling out all the stops: Air Supply, claymation, angels, and nudity packed into 30 seconds! 101.9 WPIX-FM was always the “Other” station in New York. When they were Rock, so was WNEW and WPLJ. In the early 80’s it attempted an all love songs AC format, pitted up against AC 97.1 WYNY as well as two Beautiful Music stations, 93.1 WPAT and 105.1 WRFM. By the next year, 106.7 WKHK would become WLTW “106.7 Lite-FM”. The love songs format generated decent publicity, but was lost in the shuffle as Z100 was beginning to take the market by storm. Within a few years, WPIX-FM would finally gain a niche for itself as it became an early adapter of “Smooth Jazz” and became WQCD “CD 101.9″.
