WABC Rewound ‘04 - Hour 1: Les Marshack

Digging out the old archives as we get organized in New England, I ran across this from the 2004 edition of Rewound which didn’t get posted the first time around.

Les Marshack took over for Roby Younge in the overnight slot some time before this aircheck was recorded. Marshack is still holding down the overnight slot in 1970 and sounds great here.

It’s a bit early to be thinking of Rewound, but it’s a nice way to go into Thanksgiving week!

I used to listen to Les Marshack back in 1965 on my Hammarlund HQ-170 receiver when WNYW broadcasted in the shortwave band. I wondered where he went. He’s got a good set of pipes !!! Great Aircheck here !!!

I remember Les as a jock at WPIX-FM 101.9 from around 1972. He was a weekend jock at WABC and I did not get a chance to listen to him.

Les was not on WABC very long into 1970. I remember Frank Kingston Smith doing weekends most of 1970.

Jim Nettleton also did that job. I am not sure if he was before or after Les. Probably after.
