Wolfman Jack sits in with Murray the K on 66 WNBC | August 1973
Here’s 30 minutes of Murray the K from the Summer of ‘73. Wolfman sat in at a lot of radio stations, seemingly. WNBC was making a half-hearted effort to be a psudeo top 40 station, but still with so much network programming on the air, never could get close to the success of crosstown WABC. Still, there were some shining moments. Here’s one.

Thanks for posting this. WNBC like it’s counterparts at WCBS and WABC was a flag-ship station and acted like it. All of those stations, but especially WNBC, seemed like they just ‘mailing it in’, never had to be frantic or in your face, and always sounded so totally professional and on-top-of-their-game to me.
I have Wolfman’s LP with him covering “Sweet Caroline”…also many hours of his “Graffiti Gold”
show from the ’80s…also some Armed Forces LPs…

its me again. after hn moved to the great beyond, i listened to big jay sorensen’s time machine on ‘nbc. i liked when he put me on the air, and he said he did it so new yorkers could hear a southern accent.
