Paul Miller on KOMA Oklahoma City | 1965

Here’s another one of those stations people remember… not just in Oklahoma but all throughout the western USA. KOMA’s 50 thousand watt nighttime signal covered the western 3rd of the nation like a blanket, in fact the station was heard well up into Canada and all over the West Coast.

But propagation isn’t what this aircheck is about. It’s FUN! So are the PAMS jingles and Paul Miller is having a ton of fun. Yes, it’s scoped, but check out the hits of ‘65! Some songs that
nobody plays anymore.

Yeah, I used to get “Yours Truly KOMA” in a Forest Service barracks up in the Colorado rockies late at night (thanks to skip distance) and this is a very typical slice of what it was like. Cool.

Listen to KOMA while station at Webb AFB Big Spring, TX 1963-1965 3560 FMS
