900 Sherbrooke CKTS

Ted Silver Jewel 92.5 CKTSCKTS was at one time the major hit music station for what’s known as the Eastern Townships of Quebec. In the shadow of Montreal, this station simply played the hits and did a fine job, hindered in one respect because it was an English language station in a predominantly French-speaking area. Notice the effort being made to serve not only Sherbrooke and the townships south of the region, but Isaac Shane mentions Southern Quebec and Northern New England during his weather update. Not bad. It’s unknown if places like Derby Line or Newport, Vermont ever advertised on CKTS. The signal certainly was strong enough during the daytime hours to permit it.

Ted Silver has been programming Jewel FM in Montreal for a long time but has a hand in a startup internet station trying to bring back CKTS. Isaac Shane lives in San Diego, where he sells life insurance these days. Both have continued their broadcasting career online over the years, including a few years at the now-defunct HitOldies.com. Ted is occasionally heard at 88.9 CJMQ Sherbrooke as a volunteer. Contributor Daniel Coulombe has been involved with both CJMQ, HitOldies and the startup CKTS online station and continues to bless us with fantastic airchecks such as this one.
