The Great Dan Ingram from 1966 and 1977! WABC New York Rewound 2007 Hour #4 donated by Contributor/Restorian Rob Frankel
For eight years, from 1999 to 2007, NewsTalk 77 WABC New York took one day out of the year to remember itโs historic music radio format. It was a treat for listeners, and while pre-produced by then Production Director Johnny Donovan (himself a jock during the MusicRadio 77 years), it also gave the talk show hosts the Memorial Day holiday off. This year for 2019, WABC is re-airing portions of previous Rewound programs on Labor Day. We arenโt sure why they picked Labor Day, but the station has been sold to Red Apple Media from its former owner, Cumulus. We think this is a tremendously good sign, that the new ownership is starting out by paying honor to the stationโs Music Radio past!

If everyone donated just a little bit, we could fund this site for several years. But everyone doesnโt support us. Airchexx.com exists as an educational site dedicated to the preservation of the art of Radio Broadcasting. We intend to stay online as long as possible. Thatโs where you come in. Wonโt you consider a small donation to help defray our costs? This online audio museum is free to use, but itโs not free. Someone has to pay for it. If you have the means, and you enjoy this online museum, you may donate using the following PayPal link. Thank you.
Everybody’s favorite, Dan Ingram. First half is from 1966 (When Frank Sinatra was still making number 1 songs, according to Johnny Donovan), then it moves on to 1977, about 2/3rds of the way through… gotta love those Bee Gees!

ex-WMAL, WashingtonIf there was a better Top 40 jock than Big Dan, I don’t know who it could be. Dan made everything he did sound so easy and never took himself or the commercials too seriously.
