And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, Dale Dorman!

With that introduction by Bill Drake, Dale Dorman kicks off his morning show promptly at 6 am sharp, and the rest of this show is utter nonsense!

Uncle Dale is in rare form, although for him this was the norm. Listening to this show, brings us back to the days when all of us kids remember spending our Summer Vacations listening to this guy on the radio, going outside to play, then going back in by 3pm so we could watch our favorite cartoons – yes, DALE DORMAN was the voice between the cartoons on Channel 56, and later in the 80s (or was it the 90s?), Channel 66.

Here’s a fairly good quality recording sent in by our biggest (by far) contributor, Matt Seinberg over at Big Apple Airchecks! Listen for all the big hits of 1971, parts of historic commercials, and more. Even legendary newscaster John Masters is heard, albeit briefly, doing the news. We do LOVE the WRKO jingles of this era – they were the first generation of jingles used (along with the old ones) in the immediate post-Drake era, although it’s obvious that Bill Drake is still consulting RKO stations at this point but it was nearly over.

Note in the photograph above, Dale is shown with one of his best friends, J.J. Wright. While not necessarily related to this post besides that it IS Dale, J.J. was with Dale Dorman right till his passing at home on Tuesday, October 22, 2014. He was a wonderful friend indeed, from their days at WRKO, WXKS-FM and even WODS. Dale Dorman will be, and has been terribly missed since his retirement from the former Oldies 103.3. The radio dial is a bit more empty today without him.

So now, enjoy another from the really ‘good ole days’, on 68 WRKO!
