“…Only a fool would work under these conditions”

Its a rainy, cold morning in the Motor City, and station management has left a memo to the morning guy … he can only use one phone line for his show because the phone company is concerned about too many listeners calling in. So what does he do? What any responsible air personality would do…

This is Mort Crowley, the first aircheck of him for this website, so it’s really quite a catch!

This came to us on cassette from the ‘anonymous’ contributor (we know who he is but he made us promise to keep his name a secret). The audio quality is superb, considering the year of this broadcast!

Did you take this this tape at my father’s memorial service to make money for yourself?

Laura, This tape was recorded many decades ago and it was played at the memorial because someone probably found it online. Maybe here. I would like to assure you, however, that this recording isn’t here for me to make money with. Airchexx.com is a free, online radio museum. Listening is free and the only reason I posted it is the same reason every recording on this website exists here. I’m recording the history of radio through audio recordings for posterity. One day, radio won’t be here, and neither will there be disc jockeys. Your father was a very important figure in the history of radio, and this is how I honor him.

I am glad that you found the website. If you wish to contact me for any reason, my email address is [email protected].

    Thank you, and be blessed!
