Starting out much the way WHTZ “Z-100” did in 1983, legendary programmer, jock and superb morning host Scott Shannon returns to wake New Yorkers after a one week break following his ‘retirement’ from 23 years in Mornings at WPLJ. What a welcome Shannon gets! CBS-FM re-did it’s imaging, new JAM jingles to recreate the early Z-100 sound and the cast and crew whooping it up for perhaps the only personality with a larger impact on New York radio than Dan Ingram!

There really are few words we could write that can describe Scott Shannon’s first day at CBS-FM, so we’d rather you just listen and enjoy what will undoubtedly become a long running tradition on the one radio station that still ‘gets’ it – WCBS-FM 101.1!

  1. At the beginning of this aircheck is another former WPLJ jock from the tail end of its Top 40 era and/or its current Hot AC format: Dave Stewart. AND HE’S DOING OVERNIGHTS ON ‘CBS-FM JUST LIKE HE DID ON ‘PLJ!
