He spang into the national spotlight in 1976, with his novelty hit, Disco Duck. Rick Dees is a radio icon. From 1981 until 2004, Rick Dees woke Southern California on L.A.’s KIIS FM. With bits like Candid Phone, The Joke of The Day, & Dee’s Sleaze, Rick had one of the most popular morning shows across the Southland. Rick hosted his morning show for 23 years, until he left KIIS, after a contract dispute, and was replaced by Ryan Seacrest.

Here is a recording of Rick, I made in his heyday, when I was on vacation in SoCal, in January 1995. -Ellis

Do you think you could spare a moment? Airchexx.com survives, literally, on the donations from people just like you. The ads you see take about 3 months to build up enough revenue just to get a small check. If you enjoy these archives, which so many out there do indeed rely upon, could you spare a little bit of cash? All of it goes to the hosting fees and miscellaneous costs of running this website. Thank you in advance.
