Just two days before Christmas and all through the South, not a station played oldies… okay you get the picture. It’s the end of 1997, and K-Lite has morphed from a 60s based Oldies outlet to more of a 70s/80s hybrid. While he doesn’t say it, the morning guy’s name is Tom… but I’ve long since forgotten his last name, I just remember that he was on WTAR 790 Norfolk back in the 80s.
This clip starts out with a commercial for Marco’s Electronics… the voice on this is Lon Gonzalez, then you get two breaks of the morning show, then on to Roxy Waters. I seem to remember meeting her one time earlier that year before your webmaster left KLTG in February.
The Corpus Christi market at that time was about 40 percent Tejano or Mexican regional, one oldies station (this one), three country stations (KOUL, KFTX and KRYS AM/FM) and a few Rock stations (co owned KRAD 105.5 among them).

I worked at this station at the time. I was on the air as Stacy Taylor. I did the evenings 7pm-midnight.
I remember you! I did part time briefly after KOUL. I was the Navy guy… went by Michael Jay there. Remember John Elliot? He and I were friends.

The man’s name is Tom Lynn. He started on air at WTAR Norfolk in the late 1950’s. Over 50 years later he is STILL on the air mornings on KLUX in Corpus Christi.
Hello Tim, I knew it was Tom but couldn’t remember his last name after all this time. I remember him on WTAR in it’s AM Stereo days as Oldies 790 in Norfolk. Tom was GREAT! As I replied to Leah, I was the guy known as ‘Michael Jay’ on KLTG. Steve Sawyer from KOUL. Worked with Todd “The Admiral” Winkler there, as well as served with him on the USS Champion in Ingleside.
