Vinnie Brown, Q107 WRQX Washington | January 1, 1983

107.3 Washington WRQX Q107

The 1980s was a great decade for Top 40 radio in Washington, D.C. As listeners migrated to FM, the had a choice of three great sounding CHR stations, 95.5 WPGC, 105 WAVA, and Q107 WRQX. In it’s 10 year run as a CHR station, from 1980, through 1990, Q107 had an amazing array of talented jocks. Elliott & Woodside, Sandy Weaver, George McFly, Uncle Johnny, Chris Jagger, and many others. “Downtown” Vinnie Brown left 1450 WOL to join Q107 in 1981. After 5 years at Q107, Vinnie moved on to New York City, to program WRKS-FM Kiss 98.7 from 1988 to to 1998, where he took Kiss to #1, and then he went across town as Operations Manager at 107.5 WBLS, from 1998 to 2008. He then moved onto Executive VP at KJLH Los Angeles. Here is Vinnie, before he moved to management, when he was jocking New Year’s Day, at the “Q”. -Ellis
