WABC. Just the mention of those call letters conjure up memories of people like Dan Ingram, Ron Lundy. PAMS. Jam Creative Productions. The music note ™.

Imagine, for a moment, that it’s been just 11 years since WABC New York flipped to talk. You board a plane and land in the U.K. Driving around the countryside, you flip on the radio and to your SHOCK and amazement, you hear WABC sung once again by the folks at Jonathan Wolfert’s Jam Creative Productions, on an AM radio station on 990 KHZ. Yes, your ears didn’t lie. You were listening to a station whose name (not call letters) stood for ‘Wolverhampton and Black Country’.

We won’t go into the station’s history, or the history of the relatively recent industry of commercial broadcasting in the U.K., as it would take too long and there is plenty of information available on the web. But, courtesy of our friends at AircheckDownloads.com, we bring you a strange aircheck of the Easy Listening AM Radio format of WABC Wolverhampton – in the United Kingdom!

And to make it even weirder for us New Yorkers, that’s the WABC logo sung over a jingle package produced for WCBS-FM.
