Wendy Williams, 107.5 WBLS New York | 2003

It may seem like talk show host, Wendy Williams, just popped up on TV out of nowhere, but she had a quarter century of radio experience that helped launch her TV career. She began her radio career in 1984 as an intern for Matty in the Morning, at Kiss 108 WXKS in Boston.  Wendy landed her first paid radio gig at 106.1 WVIS in St. Croix, hosting afternoon drive. It didn’t take long for major market radio to come knocking when Wendy landed afternoon drive at WOL in Washington in 1987. By 1988, Wendy made it to New York City, and for the next decade, she bounced on air between mornings & afternoons on Hot 97 WQHT & 98.7 Kiss WRKS.

After moving down the road for a few years to host mornings with Carter & Sanborn Philly’s WUSL, Power 99 FM, Williams landed afternoon drive & hit her stride hosting “The Wendy Williams Experience” on 107.5 WBLS. On this show, Wendy dished gossip, and interviewed celebrities. The show featured her personal confessionals, paired with snarkiness, and the audience at it up! The show went into national syndication, and ran until 2009, when Wendy ended the show to concentrate on her new syndicated TV show, which had similar element as her national radio show. This aircheck features The Wendy Williams Experience on WBLS from 2003.
