While we don’t usually stray into the foray of Satellite Radio, this time it seems appropriate, as we’ve received, courtesy of J. R. Russ, a studio quality recording of this four hour tribute to the late Jack Armstrong.
XM Radio’s 60s channel, “60s on 6” regularly does radio station re-creations, usually hosted by Terry “Motormouth” Young. This time, instead of a re-creation, Terry hosts a night of restored airchecks of Armstrong. Part one as heard here, features a young Jack Armstrong using his real name, John Larsh on North Carolina’s powerhouse 61 WAYS Charlotte. Vintage stuff from over 40 years ago… classic commercials included.

Steve, thanks so much! for posting this show. I enjoy hearing unscoped airchecks, lately on airchexx. I do not have satellite, not enough hours in the day with all the other options, so I am really appreciate getting this tribute. I knew about it, but have not heard it until now.
Keep up the great service that you are doing to keep radio alive.
I was a high school buddy of John’s. He used to come home with me for the weekend and we double dated two sisters in Hendersonville, N C.
He left during the school year to go back to Chapel Hill to finish high school.
Kept up with his career through friends and saw him in November of 2003 at a high school reunion when he flew up in his plane and we ate lunch and had a great visit for a few hours when he had to fly back to Greensboro.
He was a great friend.
