“Once again, we are giving away hot pants!”

Sounding much as if a table microphone was placed in front of a transistor radio speaker, here’s a quick aircheck of Jim Quinn. Quinn runs a very up-tempo show and has a good sense of humor. There is a promotion going on, giving away ‘hot pants’. The first break you hear there’s a winner on the phone. KQV was the leading Top 40 station in Pittsburgh in 1971 – an era before FM listening had caught up with AM. You’ll enjoy this 4:25 scope of 14/KQV!

  1. This was May 17, 1971. (he says it at 1:00). Quinn was the king of nights in Pittburgh radio. Bob Harper was program director at this time. The KQV-IPs include: Chuck Brinkman, Bob DeCarlo, Jon Summers, Jim Quinn, Jay Davis, and Bob Wood. Former KQV morning man Bob Wilson is heard voicing the ID. He was production director. This was a great era of KQV. Robin Watts, do you have any more KQV for us?

  2. pghjoseph – My name's Joseph Pratt from Pittsburgh. The name of my blog is "Brady's 'Ruff' Life." In this blog, I will talk about my brown and white English bulldog, Brady. I will talk about Brady doing all kinds of neat things, like sitting down, sleeping and doing all kinds of relaxing things. My previous blog's name was "Joseph Pratt's Interests And Some Other Things." I will devote one blog post a week to my previous blog in a series called "The Best Of 'Joseph Pratt's Interests And Some Other Things.'" I will talk about some of my posts that were seen only once since I started writing them ... and I will write three Brady-themed blog posts in "Brady's 'Ruff' Life" weekly.

Jim Quinn is one of Pittsburgh’s best disc jockeys ever!

  3. Great stuff here. Great old tunes. But what a crazy non-PC hot pants promotion …lol. Quinn hasn’t changed much 47 years later 🙂
