WRKO 68 Boston – Mark Jackson / Tony Mann – March 1973

This aircheck features Boston’s WRKO from 1973. WRKO was still the market’s Top 40 leader but the winds of change were blowing. Paul Drew was tinkering with the station, adding cold segues, making jock breaks shorter, and going for a more music approach on the air. If you listen carefully, you can hear the changes. It’s the all request weekend, so it makes for an interesting listen. Also, at the very end of the aircheck, you’ll hear a little bit of Tony Mann on the air, who later went on to Philadelphia.. -Ellis
