106.7 Atlanta Gainsville WYAY

Listen to this great morning show! They really knew how to do Country right… but hey, this IS the south.

Included in this aircheck: two full newscasts, traffic and weather. All the full service elements you’d expect from a great station. Full length commercials included also.

Now, remember, this is 1987. Its a few days before Christmas, and these guys manage to be really funny without offending anyone. Too bad I had to scope this… “Merry Christmas Darling” by the Carpenters is great to hear again.

Thanks once again to Karl Phillips, who included some vintage 80s/90s cassettes in that box of old reels!

  1. This was nice to hear. This station now is only a ghost of what it used to be. Im not a country fan, but the 80s country is cool. Thats what I started playing back when I got in the biz. If you really want to talk about a good station then you need some air from when this station was known as WWID Wide 107 fm. Great station from the 70s

  2. This air check reminds me of a funny story Growing up in Atlanta I personally preferred Rock and Roll back in the mid 80s I worked on air at a Atlanta country station.Barbra Mandrel I was country when country wasn’t cool was on the play list right after the song ended I got on the mike and said someone should clue her in its still not cool needless to say I was out of a job immediately
