From just their “second week workin’ together”, Scott Shannon and Todd Pettingill put on a hilarious morning show! The pairing that lasted almost 22 years here shows us why.
This scope starts us off right in the middle of a talk break. Its sometime before 8:00 and the chemistry between our two hosts and the whole morning cast is evident right from the start.
In the second break, John Gray is introduced as their special guest. Gray is the author of “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”, and our morning duo does a great interview. Its apparent that the interview is for Gray’s upcoming show at the Gershwin Theater. David Bowie is in New York to do a show this particular evening (so, perhaps this was a Friday night?)
We get a full newscast from Naomi DeClementi. Snow changing to rain is in the forecast and weather is by Bill Limmer at the Weather Channel. Traffic from Joe Nolan.
In all, this is a funny and CLASSY 28 minute aircheck honoring one of New York’s longest running morning shows!
I wish the reception had been better. The raspy sound is quite annoying.
If it is their 2nd week working together the date wouldn’t be 1997, it would be 1991.
Hmmm…if Scott hosted his last Pirate Radio show on Valentine’s Day, 1991…this wouldn’t make any sense. All I’ve been told is they started in June of that year (even Scott said so on the final show). See, every time I’ve asked as to when Scott & Todd exactly started, there’s never a clear answer. That’s just me. Also, “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt (which there is a clip of) came out in 1996.
Correction: Scott & Todd started in August 1991. This aircheck would’ve had to have been from 1997.
