98.9 Rosendale Hudson Valley WGNY Fox Oldies Van Ritshie

WGNY SignStarting right at 5 AM on a Saturday morning, Van Ritshie hosts, on this apparently Full-Service Oldies station. With plenty of hit music from the 1950s and 1960s, this is a throwback to how the original Oldies stations sounded when the first started appearing in the 1970s. The playlist is so wide, in fact, I heard songs even I couldn’t remember! Who remembers Cliff Richard’s “Lucky Lips”?

ABC News Now reported by Dave Schriber, “Fox Radio News” read by Mary Lynn Foster, Accuweather reported by real meteorologist Dan Depodwin (heard all over at the time of this recording, including WCBS 880), and with all that airing on a Saturday morning, one has to expect that during the week, there’s expanded news coverage at least in morning drive.

Enjoy a liberal dose of PAMS 1960s re-sings for “Fox Oldies WGNY“!

  1. Thanks for sharing this one. I have tons of airchecks from “Fox Oldies” from 2011 until now and I might share them sometime in the future. I listened to the station briefly, but I don’t listen to that station anymore. I prefer WROW’s “Magic 590” in Albany a lot better than “Fox Oldies”, because it has the same music with a mixture of standards like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, Perry Como, etc. and also, the station has the best jingles including the “Magic 590” jingle resings from JAM’s “Do It Again” package which sounded a lot like WCBS-FM as well as the resings from TM’s “You” package which was originally made for KHJ in Los Angeles. Out of all that, the “Magic 590” jingles is a ton better than the “Fox Oldies” PAMS jingles which I’m not too thrilled about it. I have Jay & Ben doing mornings along with John Gabriel, Ben Patten, Bob Green and Richie Norris doing “Saturday Night at the Oldies” on “Magic 590” and I might put that up sometime soon. Once again, thanks for sharing Steve, you’re the best!
