… Presenting Elton John at the Music Hall…

This has not been posted elsewhere so THANKS to our contributor!

Curator’s Notes:

Audio: This came in with very poor audio consistent with a cassette tape that’s had much of it’s oxide coating worn off. Muddy and bottom-heavy (sound wise), I had to do a lot of digital doctoring to make this listenable. It is now, but it’s not quite WRKO… It’s a bit muddy, even after my cleanup efforts. Other than that, this is a GREAT representation of RKO General’s flagship radio station.

Composite: 1510 WMEX Boston | October 4-5, 1972

Despite a signal which radiated mostly out over the Atlantic Ocean, the format and 50,000 watts of hit music power is memorable to many from the classic era of Top 40 radio!

I still pinch myself for having the good fortune to be invited by Harry Nelson to work for 68 RKO. The high tide of professionals there definitely rose my boat! So thankful! (and thank you all for allowing my pinch fetish too by the way…)

Hmmmmm are we sure this is not a compilation of two different dates? At the begining Mike Addams is doing middays….and then Scott Burns is doing “out to lunch with the Oldies”.
