From 1964 through 2001 Vancouver’s 73 CKLG played the hits for southwest British Colombia. CKLG spent years in an epic battle against 1410 CFUN. Some legendary names worked at CKLG, including Jerry Landa, John Tanner, & Daryl B, during the Boss Radio days, and later J.B. Shane, Peter Starr, Timothy Burge, Stevie Wonder, and Terry David Mulligan would grace the mikes at CKLG.
As time went on, AM music stations were hurt by the migration to FM, and CKLG was no different. They played the hits until February 1st 2001, when the station flipped the calls to CKNW, and launched the current day All-News format on AM 730.
This aircheck features CKLG’s Gil “Doc” Harris with his special guest, Wolfman Jack! Wolkman was in town making an appearance and cam on air to promote it. It’s from November 1974. -Ellis
