The Rock of Chicago sure is rockin’ on this aircheck! Here’s Don Geronimo (WPGC, WAVA, WXLO) during a short stint in the Windy City! WLS is still doing the faux-AOR format, and this is right around the time that WLS-FM 95 (94.7) came into the picture in a big way.
By 1986, the rock audience would evacuate the AM band, leaving WLS on a dark road toward the bottom of the heap before it’s ultimate flip to Talk, but here in ’82, “The Rock” was still a huge deal in Chicago. Enjoy a very hi-fi, albeit mono, slice of the ENORMOUS 89, WLS!
