  1. Eddy was a legend, and actually replaced Arthur Godfrey when Godfrey left WTOP to go to the CBS Radio Network. Eddy worked at WTOP, WASH, and finally at WWDC, playing big band tunes til the end.

  2. Eddie Gallaher was at WTOP, playing MOR music, before it went all-news. After Metromedia bought WASH the station’s GM, Bill Dalton, made the brilliant decision to hire Eddie as the morning jock. Eddie had a fabulous connection to Wash, DC and Washingtonians. He made an immediate connection with WASH’s 25-49 target audience and helped bring WASH to the top in that demo.

  3. I REMEMBER, VERY FONDLY, EDDIE GALLAHER ON WTOP WITH “THE SUNDIAL”,
“THE MOONDIAL MATINEE” & “THE MOONDIAL” IN THE 50’s. HAD AN OCCASSION
TO MEET THIS FINE GENTLEMAN WHEN HE WAS AT WWDC. ONE OF THE BEST
    BROADCASTERS I EVER HEARD.

  4. the Sundial morning show Eddie had hosted on WTOP was a carryover from WTOP’s predecessor station WJSV where Arthur Godfrey had hosted mornings in the late 1930s. WJSV became WTOP in 1943.
