This aircheck features radio vet, Jon “Rock n’ Roll” Anthony, on one of Tampa Bay’s most outrageous radio stations. The Power Pig signed on in 1989, and at this point, the Power Pig is only a few weeks old, on it’s mission to chase WRBQ-FM Q105 out of it’s CHR format. The station aggressively targeted Q105 with promotions such as handing out “Screw The Q” T-shirts at various on the street events. Within 71 days of the station’s launch, “The Power Pig” had overtaken “Q105” in the Tampa Bay radio ratings, and would eventually lead to WRBQ flipping to country in June 1993. -Ellis
