KJR Channel 95 was Seattle’s dominant Top 40 station, from the 1950s, through the 1980s. Big promotions, big personalities, and the biggest songs of the era were featured on KJR. Some of the names that were on KJR include Larry Lujack, Pat O’Day, Dick Curtis, Scotty Brink, Eric Chase, Bob Shannon, Dick Curtis, “World Famous” Tom Murphy,  Jerry Kaye, Gary Shannon, Ichabod Caine, “Emperor” Lee Smith, Lan Roberts, Kevin Metheny, Charlie Brown, Ty Flint, Bwana Johnny, Sky Walker, & Norm Gregory. This aircheck features Norm Gregory, on air at KJR in 1983. The migration to FM was in full swing, and KJR was still rocking on AM. Gregory, who’s first job in Seattle was at KJR in 1969, ended his career at KJR-FM 31 years later, in 2000. Norm passed away in 2018. -Ellis
