The WCLR calls were a part of Chicago’s radio dial for almost 20 years. The station started as Beautiful Music in 1970, moved to MOR in the mid 1970s, and by the early 1980s, had shifted to Adult Contemporary. On saturday nights, the station would leave it Soft Rock format to play oldies. The Saturday Night Oldies Show on 102 WCLR was a popular feature on the station. Peter Dean hosted the show, in his comfortable style, and took listener requests. In today’s world, it’s almost impossible to hear 50s & 60s Oldies on the radio, so it’s nice to hear this aircheck, from a time when Oldies were always on the radio.
