Here’s our first recording of KNAB. I would describe this as typical of what your average ‘mom and pop’ radio station sounded like around this time. Lots of holiday-themed advertising and a format that seems to include everything, from standards to pop to Country.

If everyone donated just a little bit, we could fund this site for several years. But everyone doesn’t support us. Airchexx.com exists as an educational site dedicated to the preservation of the art of Radio Broadcasting. We intend to stay online as long as possible. That’s where you come in. Won’t you consider a small donation to help defray our costs? This online audio museum is free to use, but it’s not free. Someone has to pay for it. Right off the bat, the first song introduced in this aircheck is wrong. At least the intro is. So, from Christmas, to Bing Crosby to Buck Owens and then to Donovan. KNAB seems to be trying to be all things for all tastes.

The audio quality isn’t the best. There’s a bit of distortion which sounds like it was part of the original recording. This is listenable, but a bit muddy. I’m including it because it is a great snapshot of what small market radio sounded like in 1977.
