In the 1980s, and into the 1990s, there was a big Rock radio war going on between 98Rock, WXTB, and 95YNF, WYNF. Lots of money was spent, and big on-air personalities ruled in this battle.
95YNF’s big weapon in the fight against 98Rock was it’s popular morning show, The Ron & Ron show. Ron Diaz and Ron Bennington were a wildly popular morning duo back in the late ’80s and early ’90s. The show had huge ratings success and Ron & Ron were known as “Radio’s Bad Boys.” Based out of Tampa, the show grew to 15 affiliates, including Orlando & Miami, before it all ended in the mid 1990s. -Ellis
