Well… Hi gang! Update time. I’ll try to do this about once a week just to let you all know what’s going on here at airchexx.
- Baseball!
First off, let us talk about something totally unrelated to Airchexx – unless one day I can legally post some full-length games, but with MLB having a copyright on all games called, that’s probably not going to happen. My Boston Red Sox are World Champions of Baseball once again! I can’t believe it! FOUR times since I was in Memphis Tennessee. Up till then, we fans waited and waited and waited. Several generations lived and died between 1912 and 2008, all waiting and hoping that our boys from Boston would win a WS.. it took until MY generation to see it!
Let’s talk about this team. Every single member of the Red Sox pulled his weight this season! All of them. This was a TEAM. It wasn’t a group of superstars like the 1978 Yankees were with Reggie Jackson and all those guys. Nope. This year’s Red Sox team was the best team I’ve ever seen, perhaps the best team I’ve ever witnessed play professional baseball. From the first pitch of the season all the way through, they won big, and when they lost, they lost gracefully. Our manager is a rookie. Well… not anymore! He did a fantastic job molding these guys into a real team. It’s a real miracle, these guys. Now… I just hope that the offseason comes and goes without anyone doing something stupid, getting hurt, getting arrested or some dumb stuff that young athletes do.
Bravo, Red Sox!
At left: the best catch of the 2018 season. Andrew Bennintendi’s 2nd game catch! This is what I mean by the greatest Red Sox team in the history of the game! I’m so proud of these guys. And, as a life long fan, this season was a major treat! Way to Go, Congratulations and here’s to a fantastic 2019 Season… Remember, just over 100 days till pitchers and catchers report!

Today, I had to do some major work on the server. Much of the reason for this is that I’m still learning what to do with my server, and it turns out that I had left many of the memory and cache settings at default, instead of configuring the memory, etc. Because of this, Airchexx and Airchexx Live! crashed several times. Basically, it ran out of memory. That won’t happen again. We’ve got a Linux server with 8 Gigs of ram at the moment and four times the disc space we need for the site and it’s audio. Why am I telling you all this? Because I want you and your friends to poke around the site. Click on everything! Make sure things work. Try to break it. I need to know if there are problems so that I can fix them. Hey… I never counted on having to do all this myself but things happen.
In closing, I wish all of you a happy, fun and SAFE Halloween. I’ll try to find something goulish to post Wednesday for those of you stuck at home, being the ones giving out the candy.
