WCBS-FM 101 New York – Bill Brown – January 18 1978

On July 4 1972, WCBS-FM flipped to all Oldies. The move was inspired by it’s sister station, 98 WCAU-FM Philadelphia, which had flipped to oldies one years earlier. The station played 50s & 60s, with some current songs thrown in. But before the Oldies music, WCBS-FM had a Rock format, from the late 1960s to 1972.

This aircheck features Bill Brown, who left WOR-FM, & worked on air at CBS-FM through the Rock era of the radio station, from 1969 to 1972, and stayed with the station through itโ€™s Oldies era, from 1972, until 2005, when the station flipped to the JACK FM for 2 years. -Ellis
