WCBS-FM 101 New York – Bill Brown – January 18 1978

On July 4 1972, WCBS-FM flipped to all Oldies. The move was inspired by it’s sister station, 98 WCAU-FM Philadelphia, which had flipped to oldies one years earlier. The station played 50s & 60s, with some current songs thrown in. But before the Oldies music, WCBS-FM had a Rock format, from the late 1960s to 1972.

This aircheck features Bill Brown, who left WOR-FM, & worked on air at CBS-FM through the Rock era of the radio station, from 1969 to 1972, and stayed with the station through it’s Oldies era, from 1972, until 2005, when the station flipped to the JACK FM for 2 years. -Ellis
