WZKL is an FM radio station in Alliance, Ohio, operating on 92.5 MHz with a CHR format. It is owned by the family company of Don Peterson who is the former publisher of the Alliance Review, and is co-owned with AM station WDPN. The station originally signed on May 29, 1979 as WFAH-FM. It became WDJQ on January 1, 1980 and WZKL on March 13, 1992.
Okay, thats the info for those who aren’t familiar with this particular market.
Here’s what I’d call your average run-of-the-mill mid-80s CHR station. Good music. Average jocks, but definitely radio that you can’t hear today since the advent of voice tracking and common satellite formats have all but eliminated the local jock aspect of stations these days. Wanna hear what decent, local CHR sounded like? This aircheck is for you.
Yes, I REMEMBER WDJQ,92.5 in CANTON. I HAVE AN AIRCHECK OR AIRCHECKS OF THIS STATION FROM THE 1980’S.THE STATION JINGLE, AND PERHAPS THIS STATION CARRIED CASEY’S AT 40.AND IF SO, I HAVE A 1986 PONTIAC CAR COMMERCIAL WITHIN THIS COUNTDOWN.MAYBE, EVEN THE 1980’S MILLER BEER COMMERCIAL.ALL THIS PROBABLY RECORDED FROM WDJQ IN CANTON.– I WAS ABLE TO PICK UP THE RADIO STATION’S SIGNAL(TRANSMISSION) RELATIVELY CLEAR HERE IN YOUNGSTOWN,OHIO.–WDJQ HAD A NICE STATION JINGLE.-WHY DID THEY CHANGE the CALL SIGN?-John

thank you Treei
Solid check for a live small/mid market. Chick sounds good on the pipes, though I could sense the need for improvement in his confidence. Kajagoogoo’s ‘Too Shy’ and Double ‘Capt. of Her Heart’ both play in the mix, like live and local jocks, where do here these gems anymore on FM?
