Airchexx honors a Connecticut broadcasting legend!
“Friendly Floyd” Wright passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023. He was 72. In Floyd’s honor, we’re featuring some airchecks from the many Connecticut and New York stations he was on in his over 50 year radio career. Stations include 1540 WPTR Albany, 102.9 WDRC-FM Hartford in it’s Top 40 “Big-D 103” era and it’s Oldies era, 97.1 WYNY New York, WWYZ “Country 92.5” Hartford, and this legendary AM station in New Haven, “13 Waves”
Listen to this and I think you’ll agree. Friendly Floyd was remarkably consistent and sounded very much the same from his early days on the air, to his final days at 88.9 WJMJ Hartford.

“In 1977, Floyd was back home in CT, on the air in New Haven at 13/WAVZ & KC101-FM working with a group of broadcast brothers & sisters who remained his life long closest friends”
