During his days at WNBC, in the 1980s, Howard Stern was always battling with WNBC Management. It’s not uncommon for radio talent to have disagreements with management, but Howard would bring those disagreements on the air for the world to see.

In this aircheck, Howard Stern meets & has a short discussion on the air with his new boss, vice president and general manager, John Hayes. The initial meeting is pretty cordial, with Hayes playing along with Stern. Over time, the relationship did become a bit tense between the two, and Hayes eventually fired Stern. Hayes blamed the firing on “conceptual differences.” -Ellis
