There are certain 1980s Top 40 radio battles that are legendary. WFLZ vs. Q105. CHUM vs CFTR. Z100 vs WPLJ. One of those battles involved Houston’s 93Q KKBQ, against KRBE. it was a fierce battle. John Lander led the Q Morning Zoo 93Q to dominate over Glenn Beck & KRBE in the 1980s. KKBQ was more than just a radio station. John Lander brought some kind of indescribable magic to the airwaves of Houston. When John Lander departed Houston, management at 93Q tried to save the format, but never could duplicate Lander the magic.
