KFOG first went on the air in 1964 as an easy-listening station, and its trademark fog horn sound quickly caught on. By the early 1980s, the easy listening format was drawing an older audience, & management saw a hole in the market, and they thought KFOG should fill it. On September 16, 1982, KFOG flipped to a blend of classic and album rock, which they called “Timeless Rock”. Dave Morey, who stayed with the new station for over 25 years, kicked off the new format.
