Wolfman Jack On AFN (Armed Forces Network) Frankfort, Germany, Parts 1 & 2

Wolfman Jack On AFN (Armed Forces Network) Frankfort, Germany, Parts 1 & 2

Courtesy of our latest contributor, Julian Porter, in the UK, here’s a very high quality, fascinating recording of AFN Frankfurt, Germany. For those of you unfamiliar with this military affiliate radio station, this is from the height of the Cold War, and the East Germans could even hear this broadcast…although it’s doubtful that many understood it, being an English speaking station. AFN Frankfurt was an AM / FM combination. I’d like to invite my good friend Thom Whetston to comment on this, as Whetston was an AFRTS broadcaster and even maintains a blog about it.

This begins with a full AFN Newscast. Stories include Jimmy Carter being the ‘presumed’ Democratic party candidate for president. Following that, the Wolfman Jack show. Wolfman used to produce shows specifically for Armed Forces Radio… and this show is for the U.S. Air Force. He sounds every bit as good as his domestic broadcasts on stations like XEROK 80 and WNBC.
